May. 19th, 2009 @ 12:42 pm In Support of PoC in SF/F
There's been quite a bit of foolishness going on lately in the reader/writer world of SF/F about this and that and complete erasure of people of color in fantasy and science fiction.

I haven't followed most of it. Frankly, the tidbits I saw were enough to know that many someones were acting like gits.

But many other someones have rallied together in support of a multi-ethnic future (and fantasty past), creating a community at:
http://community.livejournal.com/foc_u/

for Fen of Color.  Alas, I still haven't figured out what Fen means, but then it took time to figure out PoC and CoC etc.  I'm already a day late in my support post for this effort, so I'll take the time after this to look up what the fen stands for.

I won't toot my own whistle on my works that include PoC, but I will point out Tobias Buckell
He writes great SF with a Caribbean twist.  Go see the forum for more links to great writers with realistic, multicutural worlds.

Fen are sf/f fans, to differentiate them from the mundane varieties.
